2007 Wellstone's Dallas White Rock Marathon
My 3rd marathon in 9 weeks!
The Wellstone Dallas White Rock Marathon on Sunday, December 9, 2007, was my 3rd marathon in 9 weeks. It was sunny and in the 70’s when I arrived in Dallas, Texas on Friday afternoon. By Sunday, a cold front was moving through Dallas. It was 45 degrees when I started the race and 36 when I finished. It rained some during the 26.2 miles and there were 10-15 mph winds. It was especially windy during the 10 miles around the lake and parts of it were a headwind. It was challenging conditions, but I didn’t have to watch out for overheating!
There were 15,000 runners. Most did the half marathon and the marathon relay. There were approximately 4,000 that did the full marathon that I did.
I placed a phone call to the LGF Salem Campus at mile 24. It was 12:30 PM Dallas time, but 10:30 AM in Oregon; service time at LGF. They hook the phone up to a mic at LGF in Oregon and I was able to greet all the LGFers at the LGF Salem Campus and talk to them as I pressed toward the finish line.
There are some pictures below.
No, in the pictures I’m not running in black socks! My ankles are wrapped with black compression wraps as I was nursing two sore ankles going into the marathon that has lead into very painful tendonitis in my right ankle. Post-marathon I’m injured and have not been able to run as I continue to recover. It’s very painful.
I completed the Portland Marathon in Portland, Oregon on October 7, 2007.
I completed the 4th Annual Marshall University Marathon in Huntington, West Virginia on November 4, 2007.
I'm running to save lives!
Keep pressing toward the finish line with your eyes fixed on Jesus!
(Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV) "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. {2} Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Hi Pastor Greg!
Keep at the running! Boy, I wish I had half your energy. I developed Tennis elbow from my career in data entry and no one can imagine a little joint can cause so much pain! But keep going Pastor Greg! : )

Thanks for the pictures now. I'm a little misty-eyed that you ran this in my honor. Just know that I was on my knees praying for you, your wife, family, and the church you love. They are being blessed by your testimony as I am. Thank you again Greg. Thank you again...
Much Love
Heidi

Heidi,
Thanks for your prayers. I felt them and was thinking of you and the reason I'm running as I pressed toward the finish line.
