Stephanie Made My Day!

Steph_becky_and_gaj_2

Wow!  Stephanie Stricklen of KGW in Portland, made my day today!  Steph and her camera man Brian met me and Becky at McNary High School track at 9 AM for an interview that will air on KGW tonight at 5 PM PST.  It was quite a privilege as Steph is one of my heroes that is using her life to make a difference in our day.

The interview is going to be about my life style change and running three marathons in nine weeks to raise money for the American Heart Association for critical research.  Heart disease is the number one killer and I'm running to save lives.

Thanks Stephanie!  It was a honor.

Christian vs. Christ Follower Round 2

Meredeth Vieira interviewed Ann Coulter on the Today Show this morning.  Ann refers to herself right off the bat as a “conservative Christian.”

Coulter discusses current politics

Are “conservative Christians” Christ followers?  Watch the video.  What’s wrong with this picture?  Are Christians arrogant and ignore social issues for the sake of war and killing?  What about poverty issues?  What about the 36 million in this country living in poverty.  What about the 3 billion people in the world today that live on less than 2 dollars a day?  What about the 35,000 children in the world under the age of five that die daily from preventable disease?  And just maybe, God is allowing people from other countries to settle in America so that Christ followers can be their neighbors and love them as they love their self as Jesus declared in the Great Commandment.

I don't line up with these "Chrisitans".  I have my eyes fixed on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2).  I’m a Christ follower and to me it’s not at all about war and killing.  To me it is all about social issues because it’s all about people.  Christ came into our world, walked in love and humility.  And He gave of Himself for the sake of others.

This interview on the Today Show reminds me of the Christian vs. Christ follower that I posted last week.  God help us.
