Today I ran my fastest 7 miles of this training year. I’m less than two weeks out from the Portland Marathon! I felt strong and could have run faster, but paced myself with the pace I want to run for the Portland Marathon. You can read the stats from today further down.
I was up at 5 AM after a rather restless night. I changed my breakfast menu after getting hungry last week after 5 miles. The menu this morning worked better and was probably what led to me feeling stronger. My menu this morning was:
• 2 cups of coffee with Splenda.
• Approximately 3 ounces of dark chocolate
• 1 Bagel with peanut butter. The bagel was for the carbs and the peanut butter for the protein.
• 1 Banana for the potassium
• 1 cup orange juice for the potassium
• 1 Emergen-C Vitamin Mix
Why am I doing what I'm doing? I’m running marathons to help others by raising $10,000 for the American Heart Association (AHA).
Marathons (26.2 miles) along the way that I will run are:
• 10/7/2007 - Portland Marathon, Portland, Oregon
• 11/4/2007 - Marshall University Marathon, Huntington, West Virginia
• 12/9/2007 - Wellstone's Dallas White Rock Marathon, Dallas, Texas
• More to be announced if needed
Will you help me help others by clicking below and making a donation directly to the AHA? As you can see, I have a long way to go yet and I can't stop running until I reach the goal! There are too many lives hanging in the balance.

I went the wrong way on my weight this week. It could have been the whopper at mile 19.5 during my long run last week. Or it could have been that huge plate of chicken chop suey and steamed rice I had for lunch yesterday. Whatever the reason, I will be at my goal weight of 170 for the Portland Marathon in two weeks. Stay tuned.
Keep pressing toward the finish line!

P.S. Training for a marathon is much like our Christ following journey. The Apostle Paul talked about it. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIV) "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. {25} Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. {26} Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. {27} No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."
